Town of Stony Plain Volunteer Opportunities - Program Support and Co-Facilitator - Community Helpers Program

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the facilitation of a 90-minute session per week for the duration of 4-weeks.
  • Participate in a 30- minute debrief after each session.
  • Assist with preparation of materials.
  • Assist with community events attendance and preparation for events.
  • Be a positive community ambassador for the program.

Education/Knowledge Preference (but not required):

  • Training such as Mental Health First Aid, SafeTalk or ASIST would be an asset.
  • Self-identify as a helper who others tend to seek out when they have a mental health concern or are in need support.

Skills:

  • Interact successfully with program participants and staff from a diverse population.
  • Meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Model professional behavior.
  • Clear Communication
  • Strong time management and organization skills.

Time Commitment Required: 12 hours within a four-week period, per program cycle.
