Events - Event Cashiers
Only volunteers who have completed a full background check and training to use our POS system may sign up for this activity. If you'd like to help with this activity, please reach out to Kim (khope@iastate.edu).
Activity Description
Cashiers are a vital volunteer role each year for many events. You will manage transactions, including cash, credit, and check payments during events when sales take place.

Activity Instructions
- Review the POS Quick Reference Guide
- Review the Cashier Set-up and Take Down Procedures
- Schedule a 15-minute training with Renee (we can have up to three volunteers join the same 15-minute window) if you need a refresher.
- Complete the ORM Background Check sent via ISU's Office of Risk Management and HireRight.
- Check your schedule on Better Impact the weekend of May 10-12 and let the Manager of Volunteer Engagement know ASAP if you are no longer able to participate or need to reschedule shifts.
- To use the POS system, you'll need to remember your PIN, which is the last four digits of your phone number.

What to do upon arrival:
- Sign in at the front desk kiosk.
- Head to the registers. Staff members or volunteers from previous shifts will give you the rundown on what's been going on and what you should do.
Please note:
- These activities take place outdoors. Volunteers will be on their feet for a majority of the time.
- Volunteers do not need to have any plant knowledge or experience to help with the plant sale!
- Volunteers may need to push carts loaded with plants or pick up flats of plants
