About Us
S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Help Lines are confidential, culturally-sensitive telephone help lines that offers emotional support, general information and referral to the Chinese and Korean communities. The aims of the program are to promote the well-being of Chinese and Korean speaking individuals who are in need of emotional support and experiencing difficulties in accessing social services due to language, cultural barriers and fear of social stigma.
In 2002, the helplines were founded in partnership between S.U.C.C.E.S.S., Kirin and Vancouver coastal health when we recognized an urgent need for mental health support within our community.
And now we are receiving over 4 thousand calls for every quarter. And especially during pandemic we’ve received over 5 thousand calls for two quoters .
Calls to the Help Line are answered by a group of dedicated and highly-trained volunteers who work from 10am to 10pm seven days a week. Every year, we maintain around 88 active volunteers for the operation. Not only have they made a significant impact in our local community, but they’ve also assisted callers from as far away as Asia and Europe.
