Programmatic - Maker Volunteer (16 and older)

Open Sewing Maker Volunteers will assist with the library's drop‑in sewing program where community members can use the library’s sewing machines, work on personal projects, or create something with provided supplies, with light machine assistance available but no formal instruction.
Open Sewing Volunteer Expectations include:
  • Basic sewing skills: able to thread, troubleshoot, and operate a standard sewing machine
  • Comfort helping others: willing to guide participants of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities with patience and clarity
  • Positive community engagement: friendly, welcoming, and able to create an encouraging environment for people of different backgrounds
  • Safety awareness: attentive to safe machine use and workspace setup
 
Commitment is for an average of 6 hours a month, for at least 6 months.
