Market Check In (Food Bank) Volunteer

We’re seeking friendly, patient volunteers to support our Market Check In by welcoming members, assisting with check-in, and providing excellent customer service throughout their visit.

This is an opportunity for individuals aged 18+ who are able to commit to a consistent weekly shift.

Available Shifts : Mondays - 4:30 - 6:30pm or Wednesdays 5:30 to 7:00pm

Responsibilities: 

Market Check In

  • Welcome clients and manage the flow of individuals entering the market
  • Help maintain a safe and organized environment, including physical distancing practices
  • Screen clients as required upon arrival
  • Verify membership cards for each visit
  • Accurately log client visits using the Food Bank database
  • Communicate household size and program participation to other volunteers to ensure correct item distribution
  • Provide friendly, respectful, and professional customer service throughout the client’s visit

Requirements:  

  • Must be 18+ 
  • Must have a current Vulnerable Sector Check 
  • Ability to respond firmly, compassionately and with grace 
  • Understanding of compassion, valuing diversity, and awareness of issues facing this particular population 

Commitment:  Minimum 6 month commitment, one shift per week
