Tutor - Elementary School Level - English, Math and Science (18+)
Help support literacy, math and science skills by tutoring elementary aged children who participate in our Kids Clubs. Seeking three tutors, one with a specialty in English, one in Science and one in Math.
Available Shifts: Thursdays 3pm - 545pm October - mid June (following school calendar & holidays)
Responsibilities:
- Academically develop and guide students in a one-on-one, in-person setting with a focus on either elementary level Math, English or Science. Each tutor will work with 3 children during their shift, leading sessions that are 45 minutes in length.
- Assist children with homework or walk them through a grade-levelled workbook in the subject of study. (KSM will provide workbooks and materials)
- Commit and attend consistently each week, working with the same students building a relationship of trust and consistency in their learning and development.
- Complete weekly tutoring recaps for KSM staff
- Participate in volunteer training meeting in advance of tutoring program
- Engage with children in a positive, respectful & encouraging manner.
- Communicate openly with KSM staff about any concerns and the progress of children.
Requirements:
- Must be able to relate appropriately to children.
- Must provide a current and clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
- Adults with an educational background or passion for teaching.
