3. Casual/ one-off volunteering opportunities - January's practical site tasks: take your pick!
Our site task list to give everyone a better idea of what needs doing around the site. These could be the perfect tasks for you if you enjoy something practical and hands on! You can come in and pick up these tasks any time during opening hours (see below) or - if you're on the Meet and Greet team - during your shift.
Current tasks are...
- Bramble cutting
- Dusting behind heaters in the toilets
- Re-meshing the gates to stop litter blowing in
- Tidying up around the outside of the greenhouses
- Turning the compost bins - really needs doing!!
- Weeding the pathways
- Big bins of slime by the compost heaps need emptying... (lunch is on us if you manage this job!)
One you sign up for this activity you'll get the link to a spreadsheet to find more details about each task. Please either mark the task as DONE on the spreadsheet or let Hannah know when you've completed it.
You need to have had your site induction to pick up these tasks. You can pop in to do these tasks any time the Welcome Cabin in open...
Tuesday, 10am - 2:30pm
Wednesday, 10am - 2:30pm
Thursday, 10am - 2:30pm
Some Saturdays - please check with us if you need to come in on a Saturday.
Alternatively if you are a lead volunteer you can come on site outside of these times but please make sure you're familiar with our lone working policy and take suitable steps to keep yourself safe - ideally arrange with another volunteer to join you.
SAFETY FIRST! Please wear gloves - they can be found in the Welcome Cabin or in the (unlocked) Growing Group shed. Please prioritise your own safety; don't do or lift anything that could make you uncomfortable or hurt you.
