4. Training and other opportunities - Emergency First Aid training
We are hosting a free one day first aid course for volunteers on Sunday October 4th, 9am - 3pm. This is a small group in-person training with a friendly trainer, and, after a short informal assessment at the end, you'll leave with a recognised Emergency First Aid at Work qualification that is valid for three years. This course would cost around £110 if you booked it independently but as a volunteer with us you can take part for free.
This is a useful qualification for work, community activities, but also just for day to day life, as we never know when we'll encounter an emergency.
You will learn...
- the role of the first-aider
- how to assess emergency situations so you can act safely and quickly;
- how to administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
- how to correctly perform CPR;
- how to help someone who is choking;
- how to help someone who is wounded and bleeding;
- how to help someone who is suffering from shock;
- how to provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries.
Qualifications Required
- Ages 16 and up
