2. Lead volunteering roles - 🌅 Site leads for summer open evenings
Last year we had a lot of feedback from local people that they would like to see Railway Gardens open more during evenings and weekends over the summer so they could enjoy the space.
We want to pilot the idea of more evening opening, but we need your help.
We're going to try opening Railway Gardens late every Thursday throughout the summer. We're trying to understand...
a. Do we have enough volunteers to make this happen?
b. Do people use the Gardens if they're open
We're looking for people to work in pairs to open up and the supervise the site between 5 - 8pm on Thursdays throughout the summer.
- We will provide full training to make sure you feel confident opening and locking up and managing any concerns while the site is open
- You won't need to unlock any of the buildings, just the front gate
- You can bring a book, craft etc to do during your shift, the only things you'll need to do are keep an eye that everyone on site is ok, and count how many people come in using the clicker. These should be nice relaxing shifts!
- We will cancel any evening shifts when it's raining.
- A member of the Green Squirrel team will be on call and available by phone throughout your shift.
To ensure we can train everyone who is interested we're asking everyone to commit to at least 2 shifts across the summer.
Would you like to be involved in this pilot? Sign up and we'll be in touch!
