Musician
Creating an ambience for our central gathering area this volunteer position requires performance and ability. Every week you will perform a 45-60min set of appropriate background music from a playlist that you set yourself. Acoustic instruments are preferred such as piano, acoustic guitar, strings, accordion, etc. Performers should prepare music of a variety of moods and genres as best as possible (e.g. classical, jazz, folk, pop, movies/TV). Performers should have ideally 90mins of music (negotiable) as to create some variety from week to week. Pieces must be well prepared as it would in a recital.
For pianists, we are seeking performers at Grade 9 to ARCT level. RCM and other classical repertoire are welcomed, however be prepared to play pieces other than your current exam preparation (not just Grade 9 or Grade 10 pieces). We would prefer well played pieces of a lower level rather than advanced pieces still in need of refinement.
Small ensembles of 2-3 musicians are also welcomed to audition
We ask for a 1 year commitment of 3-4 shifts per month.
