Tisdale - Hospital - Palliative Care Associate

Palliative volunteers provide social interaction and offer comfort supplies to patients & families receiving care in the hospital. Training to accompany patients & families ensures volunteers are comfortable in their interactions and will receive gratification for their support. This will improve patients social wellbeing as well as physical breaks for families during this end of life experience.

Volunteers will require: 

  • Online Training - Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Volunteer Training (Modules 1-9) -
  • 2 hrs with Palliative Care Coordinator -
  • Palliative approach care - Services available in the Region -
  • The roles of volunteers & boundaries -
  • Communication Skills -
  • Understanding the dying process -
  • Cultural & Spiritual consideration

Shift times will vary  :  Monday - Sunday:   mornings, afternoons and evenings
