General interests

Warehouse Volunteers

Our Warehouse volunteers are what makes the wheels turn at Foodbank WA.

 

Individual and corporate volunteers work together to help us sort groceries and fruit & vegetables, pack hampers, undertake general cleaning and pick orders to ensure our charity partners receive the food they need.

 

The warehouse operates Monday to Friday 9.00am – 3.00pm.

 

No experience is necessary and there is not a lot of heavy lifting but does suit an active, team player who likes to keep busy.

 

Due to working in an active warehouse an ability to understand and adhere to strict OH&S warehouse policies is required.

Shop Front volunteering

Our Shop Floor volunteers are what makes the wheels turn at Foodbank WA. 

Individual volunteers to help us run our Shop Front, where people experiencing hardship, can come and shop with us at Foodbank WA.

The main role is working the checkout area, unpacking trolleys, sorting groceries and fruit & vegetables, to weight the items for sale & repacking the trolleys.

We also have general packing and tidying the shelves & undertake general cleaning. 

The Shop operates Monday to Friday 9.00am – 3.00pm. 

No experience is necessary, there is not a lot of heavy lifting but does suit an active lifting items and a team player who likes to keep busy. 

The ability to understand and adhere to OH&S policies is required.

Mobile Foodbank Volunteer

Foodbank drivers head out on the open road around Perth metro areas, departing from our Perth Airport branch.

Mobile Foodbank concept is one way we can take food directly to the people who need it most throughout the Perth metro area. We’re always in need of volunteers to help with our mobile service.

We know transport can be a barrier for people experiencing hardship, our Mobile Foodbank Van is one way we can take food directly to the people who need it most throughout the Perth metro area.

Foodbank WA is working with our charity partners across Perth metropolitan areas to provide emergency food to individuals and families in times of crisis.

Driver Volunteers

Foodbank drivers head out on the open road at all of our branches around Western Australia, representing the organisation to growers and producers and collect donated food and groceries from donor companies, delivering them back to branches for distribution.

This role suits experienced van and truck drivers who are happy to work autonomously outside of the branches and maintain a schedule of collections.

Some heavy lifting may be required.

Administration Volunteer

Your administration skills play a vital role in supporting staff to assist more people in the community.


Our front customer service desk suits a friendly, confident and customer focused volunteers with computer skills and office administration experience.

 

The Front Desk operates Monday to Friday 9.00am – 3.00pm.

 

There may be opportunities to help out with our day-to-day office activities and special projects, especially in skilled areas such as fundraising, food donor relations, marketing, IT systems, administration, finance and program delivery.

 

This role suits a focused volunteer with computer skills and office administration experience.

Community Kitchen Volunteers

Small teams of up to six corporate volunteers work alongside our fully qualified chef each day in our Community Kitchen to prepare, cook or pack frozen meals.


With our full contingent of volunteers, we can distribute up to 1,000 meals per week. Our kitchen operates Monday to Friday 8.30am – 3.00pm and no experience is necessary.

 

Individual volunteers work alongside the corporate volunteers to help our qualified chef achieve the daily goals in the kitchen.

 

Foodbank Corporate volunteer events

Individual volunteers assist with our corporate volunteering events at Foodbank Perth Airport. The tasks involved in these events are simple, and no prior experience is necessary. We will provide all the training you need to ensure you feel confident and comfortable in your role.

The main responsibilities during these events will include light catering duties such as refreshing the coffee station, water, and juice, setting up a sandwich-style lunch, and using the dishwasher to clean and pack up equipment.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to interact with the corporate group and perform light administration duties on different occasions.

Volunteering shifts range from 2 hours to 6 hours during the event days.

Nutrition Education and Cooking Program volunteer

Gain practical experience through volunteering with Foodbank WA’s nutrition education and cooking programs. Help us facilitate our hands-on and fun programs to improve participants nutrition knowledge and cooking skills.

Are you a nutrition, health promotion student or do you have an interest in nutrition and health?

Our nutrition education programs offer a unique experience and an opportunity to work with a variety of at-risk populations.

  • Nom! Adults & Youth - understanding nutrition basics and learning to cook/ plan on a budget.
  • Nom! Schools – tailored cooking sessions with school aged-children and adults
  • Nom! Children – education and cooking sessions designed to support parents/ guardians of children aged 0-5 years.

Sessions available to suit your uni/ work schedule, Monday – Friday.
