Volunteering at Werribee Mercy Hospital

Volunteers are a valued part of the Werribee Mercy Hospital team. They give their time freely to support patients, visitors and staff, and help make a positive difference each day.

Please note that volunteering is different from work experience or work placement.

We have volunteers in the following roles:

  • Welcome Desk
  • Ward assistance
  • Car Washing
  • Book Trolley

Becoming a Volunteer

It is expected that volunteers will make themselves available for a minimum of 3 hours per week for an initial period of 12 months on a weekly/fortnightly basis

Applicants will be asked to undergo to a National Police Check (arranged by Werribee Mercy Hospital), a Working With Children Check and provide suitable referees.

Volunteers must be older than 18 years. It should be noted that volunteer insurance decreases over the age of 75 years.

Once we have received your application, a time will be arranged to meet with the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss the volunteer role as well as providing us with an opportunity to get to know you better.

All volunteers are required to attend orientation training before commencing their role.

Current Volunteering Opportunities at Werribee Mercy Hospital

Welcome Desk

Werribee Mercy Hospital Welcome Desk volunteers provide a warm reassuring first point of contact for patients, families, visitors and carers entering the hospital. They help people feel welcome and supported by offering directions, escorting visitors to wards or clinics, answering general questions and helping people to navigate what can often feel like a confusing or overwhelming environment.
