Interpretation and Translation

Volunteers will support HIAS PA staff and pro bono legal volunteers through interpretation during virtual, phone, or in person meetings or document translation. There is no minimum commitment; requests are sent out through email and volunteers can respond when available. Some interpretation and translations can be scheduled at the convenience of all parties and can be outside work hours. Other interpretation opportunities occur at set times during business hours. Opportunities may involve a one-time event or ongoing over several sessions. Volunteers can choose whether they are comfortable translating, interpreting, or both.  Highly needed languages include Arabic, Pashto, Dari, Urdu, Swahili, Russian, Ukrainian, French [in-person, business hours only] Haitian Creole, Tigrinya, Spanish [in-person, business hours only], Rohingya, and Burmese. Must be at least 18 years of age. More information can be found here.
