genU’s Social Support Shared and Respite Living Home Visiting Program supports people living with a disability who may be feeling isolated and lonely, to feel connected with their community.
The role:
Our volunteer visitors are matched to a person living with disability in a Shared and Respite Living House in your local community. By visiting your client or a group of clients, you will build a meaningful connection. No previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to listen, empathise and engage in meaningful conversations and activities. Your visits could include:
- Conversation and reminiscing
- Listening to music
- Playing cards or board games
- Looking at photo albums
- Sharing stories
- Cooking
- Enjoying arts or crafts
With a little effort, you can make a significant difference to someone’s life.
Program Hours: Flexible visits for a morning or afternoon per week or per fortnight, between the hours of 11.30am -2.30pm.
