SOCIAL SUPPORT SHARED AND RESPITE LIVING HOME VISITOR

Location: Geelong and Surrounds VIC

Create meaningful connections in your community

genU’s Social Support Shared and Respite Living Home Visiting Program supports people living with a disability who may be feeling isolated and lonely, to feel connected with their community.

The role:

Our volunteer visitors are matched to a person living with disability in a Shared and Respite Living House in your local community. By visiting your client or a group of clients, you will build a meaningful connection. No previous experience is necessary, just a willingness to listen, empathise and engage in meaningful conversations and activities. Your visits could include:

  • Conversation and reminiscing
  • Listening to music
  • Playing cards or board games
  • Looking at photo albums
  • Sharing stories
  • Cooking
  • Enjoying arts or crafts

This role also provides the opportunity to become a pen pal, being able to share letters as well as face to face visits.

With a little effort, you can make a significant difference to someone’s life.

Program Hours: Flexible 30 minutes – 1 hour (bite sized), during business hours, after hours and on weekends. We ask that you commit to at least one visit per month.
