ASSISTANT FLORIST  

This role would suit a student studying a Certificate in Floristry or someone with previous work experience as a Florist

genU’s Eastern Hub provides the East Geelong community with a space where all people are welcome to meet, learn, celebrate and eat with a fabulous Season’s Café on site! The community space hosts regular classes, events and exhibitions.

 

The Eastern Hub is in a very fortunate position to have flowers donated every Monday morning from the Geelong Flower Farm. Allowing for flowers that would be otherwise discarded to have a second chance at life!

 

The Team is currently seeking a person with previous experience as a Florist, or someone studying Floristry to assist staff and other volunteers. Volunteers will assist with sorting and arranging flowers into vases for display to brighten up the Community Centre and disposing of flowers that are past their best before date.

 

Please be aware that this role requires long periods of standing, with the opportunity to sit when required. Repetitive movements and use of cutting equipment like hand pruners and thorn strippers is required. Gardening gloves and aprons are provided.

Program Hours: Volunteering will be undertaken on a Monday from 10:30am with a shift duration of approximately 2 hours. You may look to provide support on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
