Family Advisory Council
Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) is committed to collaborating with patients and families in the planning and delivery of safe, quality healthcare services.
The Family Advisory Council (FAC) is a formal group of volunteer parents/guardians that have experience using the services of Alberta Children’s Hospital and/or the Child Development Centre (CDC) with their child(ren). Service areas include the Emergency Department, Inpatient, Surgery, and/or Outpatient Clinics.
The Family Advisory Council provides a family voice on ACH policies, processes, and delivery of care practices through engagement consultations.
FAC meets monthly on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in-person at the Alberta Children's Hospital, except December, June, July and August. Note: The majority of the meetings are online. Rural members are welcome.
Family Advisory Council members serve terms of two years, to a maximum of six years.
The Family Advisory Council is led by two co-chairs who are experienced Family Advisory Council members. Each Co-Chair will serve a two year term. The Council is supported by the Patient and Family Centred Care team.
