Internship- Children's Programs

A New Leaf has a variety of internships that involve children including childcare, preschool, behavioral health, after school programs, and foster care. 
Phoenix Day:
  • Children 6 weeks to 5 years
  • Childcare & pre-K
  • Appropriate for Early Childhood Development students as well as other human service majors
  • Interns are placed in classrooms to provide supervision, instruction, and interaction
Behavioral Health After School Program:
•    The A New Leaf After School Program serves:
•Children who are 6-17 years old, who have one of the eight AHCCCS plans
•One current location-
•East Valley Mesa
•Have a behavioral health diagnosis
•Referred through their Child and Family Team (CFT)
•We provide a structured environment for clients to facilitate social interactions, social emotional learning and to work on regulating emotions
•Clients are present at the After School Program for 4 hours a day, 3-5 times a week
•The After School Program has 5 components of care
•Creative Expression
•Community
•Character Development
•Emotional Regulation
•Executive Functioning
•All Programing is based on having clients develop skills in these areas to use at home, school and their communities.
Child Welfare Services:
Supporting children and families involved with AZ Dept of Children Safety
Accompany staff on in-home and supervised visits
Field phone calls & support other education and administrative activities
REQUIREMENTS: Depending on role. Enrolled in appropriate related higher education program. Fingerprint Clearance Card, ability to pass background check, TB screen, and completion of required training (Therapeutic Options, CPR/1st Aid, Relias Health, etc.). Other requirements may be required as per funding and contracts.
