Shelter Tales Volunteer

Description: Shelter Tales offers children the opportunity to earn community service hours by reading to shelter animals at our Lantos Center for Compassion. The volunteer will bring the library cart down to the 1st floor, check children in and out, supervise them while reading and make sure dogs are comfortable in the presence of children. The volunteer will also use punch cards for returning readers and distribute prizes and reading certificates when applicable. Neither the children nor volunteer will be in physical contact with the shelter dogs, they are always behind their kennel door. 

Location: Lantos Center for Compassion - 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame.

Schedule: 3rd Saturday of each month from 9:45-11:15am (15 minutes to set up, 60 minute program, 15 minutes to clean up)
Please note this opportunity is only available once a month on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:45-11:15am.

Training Required: Online training, shadow program once
Start Date: 
September 5th or 19th

 

Participant must be able to attend every session for at least 6 months.

This role is available for volunteers 18 years old or older.
