Volunteer Musician 

Volunteer Musicians share live music with residents during scheduled programs in the Chapel Heritage Room, or Evergreen Lounge.  These performances create joyful, uplifting experiences where residents can listen, sing along, and connect through music.

This role is ideal for individuals or small groups who enjoy performing and sharing music in a group setting.

What Volunteers Do

• Perform music for residents in scheduled group settings
• Play an instrument, sing, or lead a sing-along
• Create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere through music
• Encourage participation through singing or interaction
• Adapt music selection to suit the audience
• Notify staff of any concerns
• Record volunteer hours in the volunteer record book

Location
Chapel, Evergreen Lounge and Heritage Room at Salem Home.

Time Commitment

• Sessions typically 30–60 minutes
• Scheduled in advance based on availability
• 6 month commitment preferred

Requirements

• Age 15 and older
• Ability to sing or play an instrument confidently
• Comfortable performing for groups
• Friendly and engaging
• Willing to follow Salem Home policies

Training and Support
Orientation and support provided by the Director of Community Engagement and Therapeutic Recreation staff.
