Cookie Baking Volunteers support Salem Home by baking fresh cookies in Oma’s Kitchen for residents to enjoy as part of their daily snacks. The simple act of baking helps create a warm, comforting environment and brings the familiar joy of homemade treats into the home.
Volunteers focus on baking and preparing cookies using provided ingredients and recipes, helping create meaningful moments through smell, taste, and tradition.
This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy baking and want to contribute in a hands-on and meaningful way.
What Volunteers Do
- Bake cookies using prepared ingredients and provided recipes
- Safely operate kitchen equipment (including ovens)
- Package cooled cookies for resident use
- Clean and reset the kitchen after baking
- Follow all food safety and hygiene guidelines
- Notify staff of any concerns or scheduling changes
- Record volunteer hours in the volunteer record book
Location
Oma’s Kitchen at Salem Home.
Time Commitment
- Typically once per month
- Ongoing participation
Requirements
- Age 15 and older
- Enjoyment of baking
- Comfortable working in a kitchen environment
- Able to follow instructions and safety guidelines
- Dependable and able to work independently or in a small group
- Willing to follow Salem Home policies
Training and Support
Orientation and on-site training provided by Dietary Services and the Director of Community Engagement.
