Resident Care Program Opportunities - Meal Time Companion
Mealtime Companions support residents during meals by offering conversation and assistance so that mealtimes remain enjoyable and dignified.
Volunteers help create a welcoming dining experience where residents feel supported and included.
What Volunteers Do

Sit with residents during meals

Assist residents with eating when trained to do so

Encourage independence and conversation

Observe and report concerns to staff

Record volunteer hours
Location
Resident dining areas at Salem Home.
Time Commitment
-
Breakfast: 8:15–9:45 AM
-
Lunch: 11:45 AM–1:15 PM
-
Dinner: 4:45–6:15 PM
-
6 month commitment preferred
Requirements

Age 15 and older
-
Completion of Meal Assistance Training
-
Patient, attentive, and respectful
Training and Support
Meal Assistance Training and orientation provided.

Qualifications Required
- Safety Checks - Reference Question Competed Must be Completed
- Education and/or Training - Meal Companion Training Must be Feeding Training Completed
- Education and/or Training - Feeding Training Must be In House Training
