Resident Care Program Opportunities - End of Life Companion
End of Life Companions provide a calm and compassionate presence for residents who are nearing the end of life. Volunteers may sit quietly with residents, offer gentle conversation, or provide comfort when family members need a short break.
This role helps ensure that no resident is alone during their final journey.
What Volunteers Do

Sit with residents who are nearing end of life

Offer quiet companionship and reassurance

Provide respite for family members when they need a break

Notify staff of any concerns about the resident

Record volunteer hours in the volunteer record book
Location
Resident rooms within Salem Home.
Time Commitment

Flexible scheduling based on resident needs

6 month commitment preferred
Requirements

Age 18 and older preferred

Compassionate, calm, and respectful
-
Comfortable in emotionally sensitive situations
Training and Support
Orientation and additional palliative care training provided.
