Support Services Program Opportunities - Folding Gowns
Laundry Support Volunteers assist Salem Home by folding and preparing clean isolation gowns so they are organized, accessible, and ready for use when needed. This role supports infection prevention practices and helps staff maintain a safe and well-prepared care environment.
This is a quiet, hands-on role that plays an important part in supporting resident care behind the scenes.
This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy routine tasks and working independently.
What Volunteers Do
- Fold or roll clean isolation gowns following provided examples
- Ensure gowns are neat, consistent, and ready for use
- Handle supplies carefully and follow cleanliness guidelines
- Follow infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Notify staff of any concerns or questions
- Record volunteer hours in the volunteer record book
Location
Designated work areas within Salem Home.
Time Commitment
- Typically 1–2 hours per shift
- Flexible scheduling
- Ongoing participation
Requirements
- Age 15 and older
- Comfortable with repetitive, hands-on tasks
- Able to follow directions and work independently
- Detail-oriented and dependable
- Willing to follow Salem Home policies and infection control guidelines
Training and Support
Orientation and task-specific guidance provided by the Director of Community Engagement and staff.
