Resident Engagement Opportunities - Friendly Visitor (One-to-One Visits)
Friendly Visitors spend one-to-one time with residents through relaxed, informal visits based on the resident’s interests. This may include chatting, playing a simple game, going for a short walk, or sharing a quiet activity together.
This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy casual connection and flexible, activity-based visits.
What Volunteers Do
- Visit with one resident at a time
- Engage in friendly conversation or simple activities
- Follow the resident’s interests and preferences
- Offer companionship in a relaxed and enjoyable way
- Create a welcoming and positive environment
- Notify staff of any concerns about residents
- Record volunteer hours in the volunteer record book
Location
Resident rooms or common areas within Salem Home.
Time Commitment
- About 1 hour per visit
- Flexible scheduling
- 6 month commitment preferred
Requirements
- Age 15 and older
- Friendly, patient, and dependable
- Comfortable interacting with older adults
- Willing to follow Salem Home policies
Training and Support
Orientation and support provided by the Director of Community Engagement and staff.
