Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Program Opportunities - Facility Decorating
Decorating Volunteers support Therapeutic Recreation programs at Salem Home by helping create warm, welcoming, and visually engaging spaces throughout the home. Volunteers assist with decorating for seasons, holidays, and special events, helping transform common areas into places that feel joyful, comforting, and home-like.
Working alongside Therapeutic Recreation staff, volunteers use creativity to enhance the environment and bring moments of beauty and connection into residents’ daily lives.
This role is ideal for volunteers who enjoy being creative and want to contribute in a hands-on and meaningful way.
What Volunteers Do
- Assist with decorating common areas for seasons, holidays, and special events
- Help set up, organize, and take down decorations
- Follow decorating plans and direction from staff
- Ensure decorations are safe and appropriately placed
- Engage with residents and encourage participation when appropriate
- Help create a warm, welcoming, and uplifting environment
- Notify staff of any concerns
- Record volunteer hours in the volunteer record book
Location
Common areas throughout Salem Home (lounges, hallways, activity spaces).
Time Commitment
- Typically 1–2 hours per session
- Scheduled as needed around seasonal changes and events
- Flexible scheduling
Requirements
- Age 15 and older
- Creative, organized, and detail-oriented
- Able to follow direction and work as part of a team
- Respectful of residents’ space and preferences
- Willing to follow Salem Home policies and safety guidelines
Training and Support
Orientation and guidance provided by the Director of Community Engagement and Therapeutic Recreation staff.
