What do Puzzle Pals do?
Puzzle Pals spend time with residents working on jigsaw puzzles together. These quiet visits encourage conversation, cognitive engagement, and a sense of accomplishment.
This role is perfect for volunteers who enjoy calm activities and meaningful one-to-one connection.
What Volunteers Do

Work on puzzles with one or two residents

Encourage participation at the resident’s pace

Engage in friendly conversation while puzzling

Help keep the puzzle area tidy

Notify staff of any concerns about residents

Record volunteer hours in the volunteer record book
Location
Resident lounges or common areas within Salem Home.
Time Commitment

About 1 hour per visit

Flexible scheduling with the Director of Community Engagement

6 month commitment preferred
Requirements

Age 15 and older

Patient and friendly

Comfortable engaging with older adults

Willing to follow Salem Home policies
Training and Support
Orientation and support provided by the Director of Community Engagement and Salem Home staff.
