Book Trolley Volunteers

Help our volunteers manage a small library and run a book trolley service for consumers of our acute inpatient units at the Mater Mental Health Centre in Waratah. 

Key Tasks

  • Processing donated books and magazines, including screening of suitable books and magazines for content. 
  • Organising and maintaining the Volunteer Library, including sorting and categorising books and magazines, and identifying books/magazines that require repair or disposal. 
  • Organising the book trolley by safely loading and unloading books and magazines and restocking as required. 
  • Safely transport the book trolley between the storage spaces and the Mater Mental Health Centre and within the units in the Centre as directed. 
  • Offer books and magazines to consumers, their carers and families in the Mater Mental Health Centre and provide general support and/or conversation to involve them in positive connections. 
  • Assisting with targeted appeals for donations of books and magazines as directed. 
  • Maintaining relationships with key staff at the Mater Mental Health Centre. 

Shifts Available

  • Monday to Friday from 1pm to 4pm (2 volunteers per shift)
