Dalhousie Community Garden and Food Forest Team - Community Garden Volunteer
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help our community garden grow and thrive! Whether you’re ready to take on a leadership role or prefer to lend a hand when you can, there’s a place for you on our team.
Available roles include:
- Education Leader – Plans and promotes learning events and connects new or struggling gardeners with experienced mentors.
- Garden Coordinator – Oversees the overall operation of the garden and team (ideally shared by two people).
- General Garden Volunteer – Flexible, hands-on support with tasks like watering, weeding, planting, construction, and seasonal clean-up.
- Grant Writer – Prepares and submits grant applications (with DCA approval) to support garden initiatives.
- Ground Leader – Organizes work days to maintain shared spaces, tools, and infrastructure.
- Outreach Coordinator – Promotes the garden, recruits new members, and helps welcome newcomers.
- Registrar – Manages the waitlist, assigns plots, and coordinates registration.
- Safety Leader – Promotes safe practices, maintains first aid supplies, and helps reduce risks.
- Secretary – Supports meeting organization by preparing agendas and recording minutes.
- Communications Lead – Serves as the main contact for gardeners and manages garden communications.
- Treasurer – Oversees finances, including budgeting, fees, and expenses in coordination with the DCA.
