Join us at the Dalhousie Farmers Market and help make each market day run smoothly!
Tasks
- Set up market tents and tables before opening
- Direct vendors to their assigned spots
- Assist vendors with unloading and tent setup
- Help with vendor check-in and general coordination
- Greet visitors and provide friendly assistance once the market opens
- Use a tally counter to track number of visitors
- Support the Market Manager and other team members as needed
Setting
This is an outdoor, all-weather volunteer role — the market runs rain or shine. Volunteers should come prepared for various conditions (sun, wind, cooler evenings, or rain). A volunteer tent is available for short breaks, but most of the shift will be outdoors and on your feet.
Required Skills
This role is perfect for friendly, reliable people who enjoy helping others in a lively community setting. Volunteers should be comfortable interacting with vendors and visitors and able to assist with light physical tasks such as moving tables, lifting tent weights, and guiding vendors to their spaces.
You’ll work closely with the Farmers Market Manager, who provides training during your first shift. Volunteers receive an information package before starting.
