YMCA Calgary Volunteer Position

Volunteer Title: Accounts Payable Volunteer

Reports To: Accounts Payable Administrator, Controller

Note: This role has an age requirement of 18+ years.

Summary

The Accounts Payable Volunteer will support the accounting department by maintaining the vendor invoice and payment filing and data entry of invoices into Great Plains.

 

Time Commitment

This position requires a 6-month commitment. Volunteers are expected to commit to one (1) volunteer shift per week. Shifts are 4 hours in length and scheduled during business hours Monday-Friday.

Duties and Responsibilities

Health and Safety

  1. Maintain a safe environment by following YMCA Calgary policies and procedures
  2. Build relationships with members, participants, and YMCA staff and volunteers
  3. Communicate with YMCA Staff regarding any situations during your volunteer shift

Department Support

  1. Ensure safety, communication, and a sense of belonging are high priorities
  2. Ensure all invoices are filed in the correct batch folder
  3. Support with AP data entry as needed
  4. Reviewing vendor statements and reconciling to accounting records
  5. Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
  6. Communicate with Accounts Payable Administrator regarding any situations during your shift
  7. Performs other duties as assigned by the Accounts Payable Administrator or Assistant Controller

 

Skills

  1. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains an asset
  2. Excellent computer skills - intermediate knowledge of Excel and Outlook
  3. Organizational and prioritization skills in a time-sensitive environment
  4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  5. Able to work well on own with little supervision
  6. Able to keep sensitive information confidential

Qualifications

  1. Clear Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search (volunteer letter will be provided after interview)
  2. Three references (two professional)
  3. Able to attend and complete required trainings
