Volunteer Title: Youth Program Support Facilitator (Flexible Role)

Location: Thorncliffe Greenview Community Association

Reports To: Planet Youth Manager

Note: This role has an age requirement of 18+ years.

 

Program Overview

TGCA and Planet Youth, in partnership with YMCA Calgary, offer free summer programming for children and teens in the Thorncliffe and Greenview communities. The program supports families by providing engaging activities and childcare options that allow older youth to participate in teen programming.

Role Overview

The Program Support Facilitator is a flexible, all‑around support role that helps ensure programming runs smoothly. Responsibilities vary by day and may include supervising young children (ages 2–4) or assisting facilitators with logistical and behind‑the‑scenes tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide calm, attentive supervision for children ages 2–4
  • Support safe, child‑led play in a low‑structure environment
  • Assist facilitators with set‑up, cleanup, and material organization
  • Support small groups, transitions, and volunteer breaks
  • Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and organized space

Training & Orientation

A volunteer orientation will be held at the TGCA prior to the program starting. All facilitators receive clear guidelines, a program overview, and ongoing staff support. You will also be required to complete these training courses during your onboarding:

  • YBeginnings Orientation
  • Health, Safety, and Risk Training
  • Child Safety and Protection Training
  • Other training courses based on specific needs of role

Qualifications

  • Clear Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Three references, two of them being professional
  • Able to attend and complete required training courses
