Volunteer Title: Climbing Wall Volunteer
Location: Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge, Shawnessy YMCA, Saddletowne YMCA, South Health Campus YMCA
Reports To: Day Camps and Climbing Supervisor

Note: This role has an age requirement of 16+ years.
Summary
YMCA Calgary is currently looking for volunteers to join our Climbing Team. As a volunteer, you will provide fun & safe climbing experiences for children and families alongside a certified Climbing Instructor. Previous experience in climbing is not required.
Time Commitment
This position requires a 6-month commitment. Volunteers are expected to commit to one (1) volunteer shift per week. Shifts are 1-2 hours in length and are typically scheduled weekday evenings and weekend mornings and afternoons.
Duties and Responsibilities
Health and Safety
- Maintain a safe environment by following YMCA Calgary policies and procedures
- Build relationships with members, participants, and YMCA staff and volunteers
- Communicate with YMCA Staff regarding any situations during your volunteer shift
Program Support
- Ensure safety, communication, and a sense of belonging are high priorities
- Manage risks associated with participation in programs
- Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
- Support the YMCA Climbing Instructor in facilitating quality experiences during registered program and open climb experiences
- Assist the Climbing Instructor with keeping children engaged in off-wall activities.
- Support the check-in process required for climbing including online waivers, open climb appointments and sign-in/out systems.
