Location: Brookfield YMCA, Saddletowne YMCA, Shane Homes YMCA or off-site.

Summary

Join our team as a Youth Outreach Volunteer and make a difference in the lives of youth and families! In this role, you will support and co-facilitate youth programs and activities, including fun sports, arts and games nights, health and fitness, open gym, open climb, and youth leadership initiatives, while promoting positive, safe, and welcoming environments for participants to engage in. Your responsibilities include supervising activities, ensuring the well-being of participants, facilitating positive interactions, and fostering a sense of community and belonging. If you are passionate about creating fun and inclusive experiences for youth and families, we would love to have you on board!

Time Commitment

This position requires a year-round commitment, dependent on branch needs. Volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of one (1) volunteer shift per week. Shifts are a minimum of 2-hours and are typically scheduled for weekday lunches from 12:30-1:30, weekday evenings between 3:00-8:30PM and weekends between 11AM-3PM.

Duties and Responsibilities

Health and Safety

1. Maintain a safe environment by following YMCA Calgary policies and procedures

2. Build relationships with members, participants, and YMCA staff and volunteers

3. Communicate with YMCA Staff regarding any situations during your volunteer shift

Program Support

1. Ensuring safety, communication, and a sense of belonging are high priorities

2. Manage risks associated with participation in programs

3. Setup and take down/cleanup of equipment used during programs

4. Supervise unstructured group activities

5. Engage with youth to build rapport within the branch community

6. Youth mentorship and support

7. Support for special events (if within availability)
