POSITION OVERVIEW

The Food Services Volunteer will be supporting the team with preparation and storage of all food and supplies, and preparation.  They will be supporting the routine of the kitchen such as dish collection and washing.

Age requirement: 18+

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation and storage of food supplies
  • Dish collection and washing
  • Maintain a safe environment by following policies and procedures to manage risks associated with participation in Food Services
  • Build relationships with the participants, their families and YMCA staff and volunteers
  • Ensure safety, communication and a sense of belonging are high priorities
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
  • Communicate with Director or Lead regarding any situations during your shift

SKILLS
At YMCA Calgary we ensure our volunteers are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following: 

  1. Willing to take the Food Safety Course through Alberta Health Service (Free, can be done during shift)
  2. Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
  3. Able to follow risk management procedures and practices

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search 
  2. Three references – one can be personal reference
  3. Able to attend and complete required YMCA trainings which may be at various YMCA locations
