Reports To: Day Camp Coordinator and Day Camp Supervisor, support from Healthy Living School Supervisor, Child and Family Supervisor, Day Camp Team (Assistant Coordinator, and Counsellors)

Summary
Under the supervision of Day Camp Counsellors and YMCA Staff, Day Camp Volunteers will help provide positive experiences and promote healthy communities. Assisting with craft preparation, sports and game play, and cleanup, Day Camp volunteers will play a vital role in helping participants have fun, safe and unplugged opportunities in Day Camp.
Time Commitment
This position requires at least a 2-week commitment over the 8 weeks of summer camp programs. Shifts are 2-8 hours in length and are typically scheduled during the day from Monday-Friday. Commitment varies from either specific shifts, a half day (either morning or afternoon) or a full day.
Duties and Responsibilities
Health and Safety
- Maintain a safe environment by following YMCA Calgary policies and procedures
- Build relationships with participants, and YMCA staff and volunteers
- Communicate with YMCA Staff regarding any situations during your volunteer shift
Program Support
- Demonstrate and role model positive behavior when volunteering with other staff, campers and members
- Facilitate quality experiences through option camps including Visual Art, Dance, Drama, Basketball, Learn to Skate, Climbing, Swimming and Leadership under the support of Day Camp staff
- Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
Skills
- Enthusiastic and engaging communicator

Qualifications
- Clear Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search (volunteer letter will be provided after interview)
- Three references (two professional (can be Teachers/Professors/Coaches/Mentors)
- Able to attend and complete required trainings
