Independent Volunteering: Tree & Brush Removal
This activity is for volunteers interested in independently removing invasive tree and brush from a site within a Dane County Parks property. Volunteers interested in this activity should contact the DCP Volunteer Program to coordinate specific projects.
Required Qualifications:
- DCP Certified Land Steward
- Upcoming trainings (Certified Land Steward Orientation) are listed on the "Activities" page.
- If using a chainsaw, you must have filled out the DCP chainsaw certification in your profile under the "Additional Info" section.

Location:
This activity can occur at any Dane County Parks property. View our Natural Areas webpage for more information. There, you can also view a map of our current Restoration Projects.
How to Prepare:
- Must be able to identify brush/trees that are to be cut. Commonly cut species: buckthorn and honeysuckle.
- If burning brush piles, follow DCP pile burning protocol as outlined in the DCP Volunteer Handbook.
