Invasive Tree and Brush Removal at Lower Mud Lake

Join Friends of Lower Mud Lake in restoring two oak woodlands at Lower Mud Lake Natural Resource Area, one of which is home to a Native American mound. Now that we have conquered the summer invasive weeds, we are moving on to invasive tree and shrub removal. Sawyers and haulers both needed. 

Sawyers and haulers are needed. *Sawyers must have a chainsaw certificate uploaded on MyImpact in order to operate a chainsaw on DCP property.

Hidden Farm Road, McFarland, WI 53558

• Meet at the small parking lot at the south end of Hidden Farm Road.  

How to Prepare:

What to Know:

• Sawyers bring their own equipment and safety gear.
• Safety helmets, gloves, loppers provided for haulers. No experience needed. 
• Bring your own water/beverage. A snack will be provided during break time.
• Feel free to join us even if you cannot stay for the entire time.

What to Wear: 

• Dress for the weather in layers--you will get hot as we work!  
• Sturdy work boots are recommended.  

Accessibility:

• Volunteers should be comfortable with walking on uneven terrain. 
• The work area is a 10-minute walk from the entrance. 
• There is no bathroom at this location. Plan accordingly! View the Open Restrooms webpage for more information.
