Youth Specific Opportunities - YV4C Operation Acorn

Dane County Parks needs your help collecting White Oak and Burr Oak Acorns!

Once widespread across the Upper Midwest, oak savanna is now one of the world’s rarest natural communities, with less than one percent remaining intact. Oak species provide essential benefits: filtering air and water, preventing erosion, storing carbon for centuries, and offering food and habitat to thousands of species.

Acorns collected will be used to help increase oak populations throughout the park system. Instructions, including drop off locations and tips to help you identify the White and Burr Oak species, can be found in this slideshow
