Educator - Explorer Teaching Assistant

Our Explorer Series provides a space for homeschool youth to engage in environmental education. Each season has a different theme and the Heritage Center runs 3 different groups per week. Come support our staff in engaging youth in exploring our community.

This program occurs 9:15am- 12:15 pm

How to Prepare: 

What to Know:

• Volunteers will support a HC staff member to conduct this program. Duties may include:
  • Setting up and cleaning up crafts
  • Monitor group and be on the tail end of a hike
  • Ask questions to youth to learn more
  • Report incidents and issues to the staff member assigned to the program
  • Set up and clean up program materials
  • Participate in activities (scavenger hunts, hikes, musical singing, dancing and instruments)
  • Check in participants
• Children age range
  • Mondays: 5 - 12
  • Thursdays: 12 - 16 

Accessibility:

• Volunteers are expected go on a short hike (less than 1 mile) on mostly flat, even terrain, stand/walk for up to 60 minutes. 
• Our department is committed to providing meaningful access to our programs and resources to all individuals, regardless of primary language or ability. Please note, it is not possible for all programs to be modified.
