Build a Rain Garden at Schumacher Farm

Join Dane County staff and the Friends of Schumacher Farm Park (FOS) to help install and plant a rain garden from scratch! Volunteers will be helping to dig the depression, build a berm, add mulch, and plant native species. This is a great opportunity to learn all the steps to create a rain garden that can help capture roof runoff and protect our waters. Snacks and water will be provided, bring a water bottle if you can!

How to Prepare: 

What to Wear: 

• Closed-toed, sturdy shoes 
• Clothes you don't mind getting dirty and working in.
• Rain gear depending on the weather

What to Bring:

• You don’t need to bring tools—we provide everything you’ll need. You’re welcome to bring your own, too. 
• Drinking water

Accessibility: 

• There will be bathroom and water access on site. 
• This role requires bending and digging, though options to sit when needed are available.
