Park Maintenance & Campgrounds - Tuesday Workdays at Donald County Park
Tuesday Workdays at Donald
Join a group of volunteers with the Friends of Donald Park (FODP) on Tuesday mornings to maintain and restore the park to its natural beauty! We have an outstanding and dedicated group of Tuesday volunteers that meets at Donald County Park each week from 8:30 am - 12:00 noon with a break mid-workday. No experience is necessary, we work in teams and have a good time. Task done during each workday range depending on park need and season.
Tasks Include:
- remove invasive plants from prairies
- clear trails of fallen branches and trees
- mow hiking trails and other areas.
- cut unwanted brush and trees as we open new areas (you must be certified in order to operate a chainsaw on DCP property)
- transport firewood to designated drop spots
- burn brush piles as directed
- assist Dane County Parks with seed collection, seed planting and prairie burns
- If you are mechanically inclined, there is a job for you in helping to maintain our workday equipment.
Steps to Register for a Workday:
- RSVP to Barb Hartman: contact@donaldpark.org, by the Monday before the workday so she can give you meeting location, workday details, and reach you if weather forces us to cancel.
