YV4C Wild Parsnip Removal
Volunteers take direct action to protect park ecosystems by removing invasive wild parsnip, a plant that crowds out native species and can harm both people and wildlife. Participants will learn how to safely identify and manage invasive plants while contributing to a healthier, more resilient natural areas.
Date/Time:
- Wednesday, June 17 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location:
- Lussier Family Heritage Center at 3101 Lake Farm Rd, Madison, WI 53711
- We will meet at the Heritage Center and travel in a Dane County Parks van to the work site, location TBD.
How to Prepare:
Step One: Create an Account in MyImpact (one time process)
- Account application and waiver for 18+ click here.
- Account application and waiver for those under 18 click here (requires parent signature)
Step 2: Must complete all waivers before signing up!

- DCP/LFHC Transportation Permission - must click “I agree to the above statement”
- DCP/LFHC Background Check (must be renewed yearly) - must click “I agree to the above statement”
- YV4C Behavior Agreement – sign and submit the agreement

After you've created an account and filled out all necessary waivers, you can sign up for a shift here
What to Know:
- In case of cancellation, a notification will be made via email and/or phone to participants who have signed up.
- No experience is needed. All tools and training provided.
- We will meet at the Heritage Center at 3101 Lake Farm Rd, Madison and travel in a Dane County Parks van to the site.
What to Wear & Bring:
- It will likely be hot and sunny. Please bring a brimmed hat and sunscreen.
- Parsnip is a plant that can burn skin if exposed to sunlight. Please make sure to wear long, sturdy pants and a long sleeved shirt. Work-gloves will be provided.
- Bring water bottle. Snacks will be provided.
