Native Tree Planting at Prairie Moraine

Join Prairie Moraine Friends (PMF) to help them plant several varieties of native trees in restored areas at Prairie Moraine Dog Park! Many hands make light work.

Well behaved dogs with valid DCP dog permits are welcome to join at this workday, but must be able to remain within view and under command of their owner. 

 

Steps to Register for a Workday: 

  1. Contact Jay to let him know you're interested in helping at the workday.
  2. Drop-in volunteers are welcome, but you may not receive communications if a workday is cancelled due to weather, etc.

Location: 

Prairie Moraine County Park, 6679 Wesner Rd. Verona, WI 53593

  • Meet in the southwest corner of the parking lot for the off-leash dog park at the end of Wesner Rd. You will see the PMF shed. If arriving late, call Jay.

 

How to Prepare: 


What to Know:

  • Workday timing is flexible. Ideally you can arrive at the start times to join the briefing overview and grab tools, but if you need to arrive late or leave early, just communicate with Jay.
  • Volunteers will receive on-the-job training and supervision at every work session.  
  • Cancellation: cancellations will only occur if it's an active thunderstorm. Be prepared for whatever temperatures and precipitations are forecasted. 
  • Breaks can be taken as needed. 


What to Wear: 

  • Closed-toed, sturdy shoes. Open toed shoes are not allowed. 
  • Clothes you don't mind getting dirty and working in.
    • Breathable, loose-fitting clothing is best for the summertime. 
  • A hat and sunscreen is recommended.

What to Bring:

  • You don’t need to bring tools—we provide everything you’ll need. You’re welcome to bring your own though if you'd like. 
  • Drinking water (extra water if it's hot out)
  • A snack if you need. If you're staying through the whole day, bring lunch. 
  • Bring bug spray if bugs bother you. 

Accessibility 

  • Volunteers will be working on uneven terrain.
