Volunteer Trainings - Plant App ID Training at Schumacher
Plant App ID Training at Schumacher Farm
Ever wanted to test your plant identification skills? Want to know what plant ID apps are best for your smartphone or other smart device, while contributing to science? Join John Zaborski, of UW-Madison to dive into several kinds of plant ID tools and to help with an on-going study hosted by the Renz Lab of UW-Madison, that compares the usefulness of these tools. Participants will learn about the following:
- Pl@ntNet - desktop and app version
- Google Photo/Lens (Android)
- Apple Photo (Apple)
Participants may find it useful to download the app-based version of Pl@ntNet prior to the training. Everyone will receive an introduction to the study, how to download and log in to Pl@ntNet, and how to find their integrated photo system. There will be several groups that go into the field to test these tools on known invasive species, and feedback will be collected on usefulness of the various apps.
