Volunteer Opportunities - Reach Out and Read Storytime

The Winnebago County Health Department’s (WCHD) WIC Program has partnered with the Rock River United Way to offer a reading program called “Reach Out and Read”.

Volunteers read preselected books and interact with WIC clients (children) for 1 hour in a designated

area within the WIC Program office at the WCHD (555 N. Court St. 4th Floor Rockford, IL. 61103).

 

Volunteers are required to complete the DCFS mandated reporter training prior to participating in this program. 

 

Volunteers may choose to read for 1 hour during any of the days and times listed below: 

NOTE: The health department is closed on all Federal Holidays, unless otherwise noted.

Monday: 9:00am-11:00am, 1:00pm-4:00pm

Tuesday: 1:00pm-4:00pm

Wednesday: 9:00am-11:00am, 1:00pm-4:00pm

                       1st & 3rd Wednesday 4:30pm-5:30pm

Thursday: 10:00am-11:00am, 1:00pm-4:00pm

Friday: 9:00am-11:00am, 1:00pm-4:00pm
