St Andrew's Hospital Foundation

Welcome to the St Andrew's Hospital Foundation Volunteer Service

The St Andrew's Hospital Foundation manages the volunteer activities within the St Andrew's Hospital and newly created Wellbeing Centre.

We provide a range of training and development opportunities in a variety of interesting areas, and you can also enjoy the benefits of some great social interactions with other volunteers, staff and our community.

Currently we have a range of roles from administration support, ward and patient services to supporting our coffee and gift shop.

We are always looking for new and innovative ways to support our community - if you have a new idea, skill or service you'd like to offer as a volunteer, let us know, we'd love to talk to you more about this!

Please Note:
Our volunteers are motivated by a strong desire to assist staff, visitors, patients and families of our St Andrew's Hospital Community.  Applicants will be asked to commit to a minimum of 4 hour per week/ for 12 months (please consider this PRIOR to applying).  Our volunteer roles may not suit those whose main motivation is to improve their current or future career prospects. Students seeking work-experience or work placements should refer to the St Andrew's Hospital careers page.

What is the process of becoming a Volunteer?

Step 1: EXPRESSING YOUR INTEREST

If you are unable to complete this online, please contact us and one of our friendly team will be happy to help you with this step.

Contact Volunteer Services - 0484 730 250

Step 2:  RECRUITMENT

  • Your expression of interest will be assessed by our Team
  • If suitable, you will be invited to attend an interview (this will be in person during business hours) with someone from our team
  • Successful applicants will then be invited to attend onboarding training.

Step 3:  TRAINING

  • Volunteers are required to complete a series of compulsory trainings sessions before volunteering with us - some of these trainings are online and others are in person (relevant to your role)
  • Once online modules are completed you will be asked to attend an ON SITE half day training session (during business hours).
This is a requirement for ALL volunteers of St Andrew's Hospital.

Step 4: ONBOARDING

  • Once all training is completed, you will be asked to provide us with your relevant credentials (Police Check/ Vaccination Evidence/ Medical Clearance)
  • You will then be booked into a Buddy Shift (to work with another volunteer to “shadow” them in their role)

You will then be placed on the roster and ready to volunteer and have fun!
