New York Avenue Men's Shelter Program Description

No one should spend a night outside on the streets. At Catholic Charities we understand how crucial having secure housing is to the success of a family or individual. Catholic Charities 5 low barrier emergency shelters -- Adam's Place, New York Ave, & St Elizabeth's 801 E men's shelters and Nativity and Harriet Tubman women's shelters -- are staffed by professionals who have dedicated themselves to helping others get back on their feet.

Volunteer Opportunities at New York Avenue Shelter:

Monthly Shelter Clean Up: Volunteers help staff do a thorough cleaning and straightening of the donations storage room on the 1st Saturday morning of the month.  This is a great project for a group!  Sign up here.

Shelter Hospitality Volunteers: Welcome men as they come into the shelter, help serve dinner, distribute sheets, soap and the mail.  Commit to once a week for 6 months.  Apply here.
