General Pool – Event Assistant Volunteer

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
MOSAIC programs are dedicated to supporting a diverse community. Each program offers unique opportunities to carry out the organization’s mission in enriching communities through services and advocacy, furthering the success and sense of belonging of newcomers and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of Event Assistant Volunteer is to provide support to MOSAIC staff during events such as social gatherings, workshops, information tables, employer presentations, fundraising events, or other community engagement events. This is a generalized role, and each opportunity may be unique! Joining this volunteer pool will allow you to have a flexible schedule, signing up when you’re available to support our MOSAIC community!
MOSAIC also hosts many re-occurring events and may require volunteers to sign up for consecutive shifts. It is best to refer to the email callouts and event information on MyImpact on specific details and requirements pertaining to each individual event.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up
- Arriving early before event to set up event space which includes but not limited to: putting up signage, setting up event tables, preparing event items for participants, etc.
During the event
- Welcoming guests and attendees to the event
- Supporting staff at the registration table of the event
- Relaying questions or inquiries to staff members
- Supporting staff with directing guests to appropriate table or room
Take down
- Cleaning up and taking down event space which includes but not limited to: putting away chairs, event tables, tidying space, packing up boxes, collecting garbage, etc.
- Responsibilities may vary depending on the type of event, typically this will be noted in the email callouts sent to volunteers
THIS ROLE WOULD BE SUITABLE FOR SOMEONE WHO:
- Enjoys in-person interactions with staff and community members
- Enjoys being in a quick-paced and interactive environment
- Enjoys being with crowds or working with large teams
- Each event is unique and it is best to refer to the email call-out for more information
TIME COMMITMENT:
- Volunteers must commit to supporting with at least three events per annual year
- As some events may require volunteers to participate in multiple shifts, it is best to refer to the email call-out & event description on MyImpact for more information
REQUIREMENTS:
- All applicants must go through our MOSAIC volunteer screening and onboarding process
- Screening process includes Volunteer Interview, Reference Checks, Criminal Record Check Clearance Letter, Agree to MOSAIC’s Confidentiality Policy and Volunteer Agreement
- Complete mandatory CORE Orientation & Trainings and role-specific trainings
- Volunteers are required to find their own mode of transportation to volunteer sites
- Volunteers may be asked to lift heavy items up to 20lb
