General Pool – Childminding Volunteer

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

MOSAIC programs are dedicated to supporting a diverse community. Each program offers unique opportunities to carry out the organization’s mission in enriching communities through services and advocacy, furthering the success and sense of belonging of newcomers and individuals from diverse backgrounds. 

Our programs often provide workshops, clinics, training and other activities for MOSAIC client communities. When available, programs may offer childminding services to support families attending.  

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the General Pool - Childminding Volunteer is to provide childminding support to MOSAIC staff during in-house eventsThis is a flexible and generalized role, and each opportunity may be unique! Joining this volunteer pool will allow you to have a flexible schedule, signing up when you’re available to support our MOSAIC community! 

MOSAIC also hosts many re-occurring events and may require volunteers to sign up for consecutive shifts. It is best to refer to the email callouts and event information on MyImpact on specific details and requirements pertaining to each individual event. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting staff, interacting with children from 18 months to 18 years old
  • Setting up and creating various play and learn stations for children
  • Support staff by supervising children and bringing up concerns and needs
  • Support staff in engaging children in activities, games and song 
  • Assist in the preparation of event space, which includes set-up, clean-up and refreshment
  • Responsibilities may vary depending on the type of event, typically this will be noted in the email callouts sent to volunteers

THIS ROLE WOULD BE SUITABLE FOR SOMEONE WHO:

  • Enjoys in-person interactions with staff and community members
  • Enjoys being in a quick-paced and interactive environment
  • Enjoys being with crowds or working with large teams
  • Each event is unique and it is best to refer to the email call-out for more information 

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • Volunteers must commit to supporting with at least three events per annual year
  • As some events may require volunteers to participate in multiple shifts, it is best to refer to the email call-out & event description on MyImpact for more information

REQUIREMENTS:

  • All applicants must go through our MOSAIC volunteer screening and onboarding process 
  • Screening process includes Volunteer Interview, Reference Checks, Criminal Record Check Clearance Letter, Agree to MOSAIC’s Confidentiality Policy and Volunteer Agreement
  • Complete mandatory CORE Orientation & Trainings and role-specific trainings
  • Volunteers are required to find their own mode of transportation to volunteer sites
  • Volunteers may be asked to lift heavy items up to 20lb
